I think the parents of Walpole should be proud and happy to hear that their teachers are always outstanding, not just in education, but in every aspect of taking care of their children. Right about the three simple words. I'll bet no one my age forgets the, "stop, drop and roll". I remember in the "old" days we had a flip chart that stayed in our "top right hand drawer" which we would pull out if a "code" was being issued. By the time we got through reading what we should do it was just about too late. I think something like this is easier to process than a list of do's and don'ts.
Strange world indeed! Nobody should have to worry about such things in a work place or school.
Thanks for taking the time to comment.Nancy Chttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17785303835521700957noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4062787008829792602.post-66484307837687753872015-02-15T19:48:55.447-05:002015-02-15T19:48:55.447-05:00Hi Nancy - I read this because we also have traini...Hi Nancy - I read this because we also have training in our workplace but I don't think anything could be more frightening than being responsible for someone else's kids. Our program is called Run, Hide, Fight from the DHS. We don't act it out but we provided CBTs and handouts to the entire organization and its required training for new hires. We encourage them to pass along the information. Having three simple words somewhere in your head during a panic is better than nothing. We have privacy panels on our indoor office panels and encourage folks to be aware of multiple ways to get out of the building know matter where they are. No locks yet. Will all the training help? Who knows. Some folks who are cool and calm day to day might be the ones to freak out, and those mousy quiet ones might just take control. We will never know how we will react and hopefully, we will never find out. Strange world we live in now.Diananoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4062787008829792602.post-49009712724227583592015-02-15T18:22:39.128-05:002015-02-15T18:22:39.128-05:00Hi Vinny,

I think you had me keep jumper cables, blanket, flashlight and some water in the care along with a DIME to make a phone call! Sad to say that now we have to plan for even greater emergencies. Preparedness is a very big key to do the right things without having to guess at what to do.
Being prepared and a plan to follow and real live practice of the plan will help all the kids and teachers to feel that they can do what is necessary without panic.
Great job for all of us to follow no matter where you may be.

DadDadnoreply@blogger.com
